El Capitan State Beach
The park camping is currently open, ‘first-come, first-served’ on a walk-in only basis, until the expected start of Entrance Road Construction in January 2025. Once construction on the entrance road begins, camping at El Capitán State Beach will cease for approximately one year with an anticipated reopening in January 2026.For the latest updates on the project, please visit the project web page at www.parks.ca.gov/elcapitanproject.
El Capitán State Beach offers visitors a sandy beach, rocky tidepools, and stands of sycamore and oaks along El Capitán Creek. It’s a perfect setting for swimming, fishing, surfing, picnicking and camping. A stairway provides access from the bluffs to the beach area.
