Guys' Golf Getaway, Goleta Style

y

The time has come—time to pack the clubs, and leave the rest at home for some much-needed time with the guys on the California coast. Our Goleta “Guys' Golf Getaway” itinerary will help guide your trip.

Your Itinerary

Day 1:

1
  Glen Annie Golf Club

Goleta’s three courses easily stand with renowned greens throughout the country. Start the tour at Glen Annie Golf Course—an incredible haven that takes players through the beautiful land between the Santa Ynez Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. This championship course offers up 18 holes—or 19 if you count its watering hole, the Frog Bar & Grill where you can replenish with a Blackened Ahi Wrap, Grilled Flat Iron Steak, or Panko Halibut Tacos.

After you put the clubs away for the afternoon, consider heading to one of Goleta’s many world-class but welcoming craft breweries, like M. Special Brewing Co. Diverse in their offerings, but consistent in their friendliness, your choice of taproom will depend on your choice of brew.

Day 2:

2
  Rancho San Marcos Golf Course

If you need to work out the kinks before heading to the links, consider catching a quick wave at Campus Point or renting stand-up paddleboards and enjoying a relaxing water stroll from Goleta Beach Park.

This will warm you up nicely for your tee time at Rancho San Marcos Golf Course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. This sensational course coaxes you slightly inland, and spans 300 acres of rolling hills at the base of the Santa Ynez Mountains. The ranch was initially established by the Santa Barbara Mission as an outpost. In 1998, it opened as a golf course, designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr.

Rancho San Marcos Golf Course is a short 15 minutes from surrounding wine country if you want to take a tour of the nearby wineries. If you prefer to head back to town, stop by the Beachside Bar Café, located right on the beach. You can catch happy hour from 3:00 – 6:00 Monday through Friday and all day Saturday and Sunday. Or choose from a mouth-watering seafood bar that offers up Oysters Rockefeller, Crab Cakes, and Beachside Ceviche.

Round out the night with another type of sport—bowling! Zodo’s Bowling and Beyond offers opening bowling times and glow bowling. Light up your night with a fun pit stop where you’re sure to have a good time, and can even quench your thirst and late-night appetite with a stop by the onsite Z’s Tap House and Grill.

  Sandpiper Golf Club

Today, you get to play one of Golf Digest’s “Top Twenty-five Public Golf Courses in the Country.” Sandpiper Golf Club measures over 7,000 yards—much of which runs along the ocean—with a championship rating of 74.5 and a design that caters to players of all levels. If you want to hone your game while you’re here, Sandpiper also offers private instruction and club fitting. The Sandpiper Grill is an excellent place to grab a bite after your round of golf, featuring a variety of favorites.

Round out your trip by exploring some of Goleta’s nightlife in Old Town. The Mercury Lounge is known for its impressive live music, and The Imperial is the best place to go for a vintage vibe, and a vintage artisan cocktail!
