Annette and Peter had an unforgettable adventure in Goleta, enjoying some of the region’s best experiences from indoor comforts to the great outdoors. Check out some of their favorite spots.
Ready for an outdoor adventure, Goleta Style? Follow along on Peter and Annette’s journey as you plan your own.
Take the scenic drive up California’s iconic US-101, and start your weekend with the beautiful 3-mile round-trip trek on the Gaviota Peak Trail to experience the wind caves. Annette and Peter loved exploring the caves from inside and above, and fell in love some with Goleta’s natural splendor before taking the hike down.
After your drive back into Goleta, grab a quick, refreshing lunch at PokeMee, where you can build your own massive Poke bowl. Annette and Peter considered this lunch perfect reward after the morning’s hike.
When the morning starts out with a hike, you’ve earned a hoppy mid-afternoon beverage. Stop into Draughtsmen Aleworks and taste a flight of local beers—Annette’s favorite was the unique Nama Biru Japanese Rice Lager. The taproom’s activities are sure to bring out your competitive side, and Peter highly recommends playing giant Connect Four while you sip on a range of top-notch beers.
Once you’ve worked up an appetite from beers and bar games, sate your appetite with Jane at the Marketplace where fresh fare awaits. Annette recommends the Salmon on Cedar, a Goleta Style favorite. Satisfy your sweet tooth with Jane’s classic coconut chiffon cake, which Peter and Annette discovered as the perfect dessert for sharing.
Wake up and start your day early at Campus Point. Located near the UCSB campus, this stunning beach is perfect for surfers of all levels. Annette and Peter surfed for the first time guided by Doug from Surf Country, and they both caught a wave or two! If surfing isn’t your speed, enjoy relaxing on the beach, exploring the tide pools or boogie boarding in the waves.
After your beach time, you’ll want to get cleaned up. Head back to your room at Best Western Plus South Coast Inn for a relaxing few hours exploring the lush gardens and relaxing by the pool. Annette and Peter took advantage of downtime on the beautiful Best Western grounds by sharing up a bottle of local wine they picked up from Foley Food & Wine Society Tasting Room.
In the evening, enjoy a sunset at Goleta Beach Park, and take a romantic stroll down the long pier. Peter and Annette shared a special evening on the pier, the perfect end to their Goleta Style adventure.
